A motor vehicle service is a series of maintenance procedures which are recommended to be carried out every 12 months or after the vehicle has travelled 12,000 miles. The service intervals are usually specified by the vehicle manufacturer in a service schedule and some modern cars display the due date for the next service electronically on the instrument panel.

If you own a vehicle, it is essential to regularly service your car. It doesn't matter how old your vehicle is, a professional service undertaken by a skilled mechanic will ensure your vehicle is working efficiently and safely, highlighting any potential problems before they develop into more serious ones.

When we complete a motor vehicle service we record it in your service history book which is then rubber stamped by us upon completion of each service. A complete service history usually adds to the resale value of a vehicle.

Maintenance tasks we carry out during a motor vehicle full service include the following:

  • Change the engine oil
  • Replace the oil filter
  • Replace the air filter
  • Replace the fuel filter
  • Replace the spark plugs
  • Tune the engine
  • Check level and refill brake fluid
  • Check level and refill power steering fluid
  • Grease and lubricate components
  • Inspect and replace the timing belt if needed
  • Check condition of the tyres
  • Check the clutch and clutch cable
  • Check the gearbox
  • Check the car battery
  • Other engine components not covered on an MOT

MOTs
All cars 3 years old and over require a valid MOT certificate.

MOT tests can be conducted on your car up to one month prior to the expiry date of an existing MOT certificate, provided that a current MOT certificate is presented to the examiner at the time of the test.

On passing the MOT test, the car will receive a certificate valid from the date of expiry of your existing MOT certificate.

If your car fails its MOT test, a retest fee will apply if your vehicle is removed from the test centre for repair and returned within 7 working days following the day it originally failed.

Our MOTs are just £35 and include a free retest.

We are also able to carry out any MOT repairs required.
